Nova Scotia to Reopen Provincial Nomination Stream Program

Good news for those who are thinking of moving to Canada!

According to reports, the province of Nova Scotia will reopen its Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) that has been closed since 2015.

It’s officially called the Novia Scotia Demand: Express Entry and it will be open to candidates who are already in the Express Entry pool. Successful applicants will be awarded an additional 600 points, which will in essence assure them of an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

For this reopening of their PNP, Nova Scotia is targeting the following occupations/NOCs

And here are some more details to find out if you’re eligible for the program

  • Currently have an active Express Entry profile
  • Have at least one year experience in one of Nova Scotia’s target occupations/NOCs
  • Have at least a Canadian high school credential or international equivalent
  • English or French language ability or 7 or better
  • Score 67 points or more on the Novia Socita PNP’s assessment
  • Have enough financial resources to successfully settle in Nova Scotia

There is no better time to apply to immigrate to Canada! With the requirements at an all time low, 2017 might be the best chance you have!

Moving to Canada will be a daunting task for anyone and If there’s anything you want to ask, feel free to leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can! Alternatively, we’ve also set up Twitter and Instagram accounts, so we can also talk and get to know more about each other there.

  1. Hi there, N and V! My wife(Primary Applicant) and I got ITA in recent draw. Wife is enclosing the proof of funds in her name. Additionally, could you please let us know, can I as her spouse(secondary applicant) include my funds in the proof of funds documentation? Or do they expect the principal applicant only to show all the funds in own name?

BTW, Thank you so much for continuing to write this inspiring blog. I had left a comment sometime back, but it did not get displayed on the blog. Don’t know why.

    • Hi Ashish!

Congratulations to you and your wife for getting an ITA! Exciting times ahead!

Regarding your question on proof of funds, may I ask why your wife is presenting them under her name as opposed to both of your names? I think it would be better to show a joint account (would it be possible for you to add your name to her account?) Or you could transfer the funds from your account to hers. However, it might be better to show proof of funds under both of your names since it will further solidify your status as a married couple.

Hope this helps answer your question. I’m sorry about your previous comment, not really sure what happened to it, but I’m happy that we were able to connect now.

Please, update us about how your application progresses! Maybe we’ll see each other in Canada in the future! 🙂

      • Yes, we do have a joint account, but it does not have too much of money in it. Most of our funds are in our individual accounts. We are intending to attach balance certificates from both of our’s accounts. Just that I was not sure, if I attached a declaration of support saying – I support my wife’s application to immigrate – will that suffice or they would rather expect all the funds in Principal Applicant’s (wife’s) bank accounts. Because in their help section they have written, Who needs to provide proof of funds? Answer: Principal Applicant.

Given that only 35,000 people live in PEI and my dream of going for a vacation to PEI some day, our meeting could as well materialize, We never know! And it will be an absolute pleasure to meet you both.

        • It is really a tricky subject Ashish. I would definitely err on the side of caution on this one and just transfer money to the joint account and declare that or transfer money to the principal applicant.

For our application, I was the only one who submitted financial documents, none for my wife.

Where are you guys planning to settle in Canada? 🙂
