Canadian Express Entry Draw Breaks Records Once Again!

February 22, 2017 saw the lowest CRS point requirement for an Invitation to Apply (ITA) to become a Canadian Permanent Resident at 441 points.

Well… that record lasted a total of 10 days.

Yesterday, March 1 2017 was the 55th Express Entry (EE) draw for the year which saw point requirements hit an all time low of 434 CRS points! A total of 3,884 invitations were issued for this round.

Is this the direction that the Trudeau government wants to take with immigration? Or is this the effect of the changes that were made to the EE ranking system late last year? Will this downward trend last? Nobody really knows the answers to these questions right now, but I guess the important thing is that it seems that it is getting easier to get into Canada.

Want to read more about Express Entry? Take a look at our analysis how it did last 2015 and 2016 as well as a rundown of the changes to the ranking system that took effect November of 2016.

2017 is looking like the best year to be part of the Express Entry pool! Did you guys get drawn this time? We really hope that you guys did!

  1. Hello, how many CLB score need to apply to Canada? How did you apply? Do you just personally create account at CIV website or do you seek help to a Consultancy? I am starting to review for my IELTS exam. 🙂 Thank you.

    • Hi Pinkpastelmom, thanks for your comment! 🙂

We used a consultancy to help facilitate our application. With our busy schedules, we just wanted to make sure that we didn’t make any mistakes in the paperwork and working with a consultant will give you that extra level of checking when it comes to your documents. But after everything, we do realize that it is very possible to successfully migrate to Canada without the services of a consultant. There have been many success stories of people applying by themselves as well as horror stories from those who use consultants. I guess it will really depend on how much time you have to invest in your application and how willing you are to pay for a consultant.

As for the IELTS, I think the minimum CLB level you have to reach is a 7. This means that the minimum score you have to get for the IELTS reading, listening, speaking and writing exams is 7.

Btw, where are you from? If you don’t mind us asking. 🙂

Good luck and I hope this helps!
