Now this one is close to our hearts and should be good news for anyone thinking of moving to Canada.
According to cicnews.com the province of Prince Edward Island has reopened their Provincial Nomination Program after deciding to stop accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) midway through 2016. This comes on the heels of Ontario also deciding to reopen their Provincial Nominee Program within the next week.
The article also points our a few interesting facts about the PEI PNP, some of which we didn’t know about despite being nominees of the province.
For example, PEI PNP is the only provincial nominee stream which does not use a points-based approach to gauge whether an applicant is eligible to apply for provincial nomination. The province only requires one to submit an EOI for their profiles to be placed into the pool for possible invitation for the program.
Given that anyone with a valid Express Entry (EE) profile can basically put their name in the hat for PEI PNP, it’s expected that the province probably gets flooded by EOIs pretty early after opening the program. That’s probably why there have been mixed reviews for the program, with some saying that the province takes a long time to process EOIs and ultimately decide on who to invite for provincial nomination.
Personally, it took almost nine months from when we submitted our EOI before PEI invited us to apply to the PNP, but I guess at the end of the day, what’s important is we do get invited. 🙂
Basically, the PEI PNP will be the easiest provincial nomination application you will do, so better submit your EOIs before they close the program up again!

In our next post, we’ll be taking a look at the how Express Entry performed last 2016. With a lot of changes made within the year, it will be interesting to take a dive into the statistics.
